A next step

We often talk about the real world - as being somehow very different from the world I inhabit (mostly) - and that is, a university. OK, we are real (really) - yet our lives are substantially different from those that run businesses, employ people, meet payrolls and so on. A great idea that may be hatched in someone's mind (or a laboratory) may or may not lead to anything in the real world, but it can. If I had the time, I would try and trace great/good ideas and how they struggled to implement them in the real world. It will be an excellent learning experience.

We (I and some colleagues of mine) are venturing in the real world - We will attempt to take our patented idea on nucleic acid detection (US Patent 7,291,459) towards a commercial application.

It will be both a scary and an exhilarating time as we move forward. I am learning about "C" and "S" corporations, "LLC's" and so on and so forth. A different world indeed.
